Well I cant imagine a "Stuck" ring would sounds like that. And thier is no way of knowing what is wrong until you open her up. If you can get the DS for alittle cheaper, with 500 bucks you can replace the piston/rings pretty much everything on the top of the motor. But if its in the lower case of the engine, than your talking $$$$$ depending on wait it is.

What scares me is, if this guy has never clean out his OIL SCREEN in his oil tank, The lack of oil flow could have caused damage to the Crank Bearings, and this what your hearing.

BIgger.

You don't know for sure that it's just a piston that it needs but if it's making "metal against metal" noises for every second that it runs it's cost more $$$. Now there are lots of things in a 4 stroke motor that can go to hell and end up costing a lot of money to fix. You'd sure be pissed off if you bought it and tore it down to find out you need a new piston, cylinder bore and replating, possibly new valves and valve guides and re seated, new timing chain, worn cams etc.... and that's just the top end, who knows if the bottom end is shot. And taking into consideration that stuff for DS's cost an arm and a leg to buy, you may want to pass this one up...... By the way, a piston is about $300 for a DS.

it kills me when some one brags on a 500cc that won't even out run a 400cc bombardier.
