I disconnect the line from the oil tank where it connects to the motor and drain the tank from there. Unplug the drain plug again to make sure all the oil is out. It should take about 3 1/2 to 4 quarts with the change of the oil filter. Start with 3 quarts and check it. then go from there.

Do what he said, also use an air compressor and spray air into the reservoir where you would add oil.
Another good thing to do it clean the oil filter screen thats attached to the bottom of the oil tank. Unscrew the hose clamp that attaches the oil hose to the bottom of the oil tank and disconnect the hose. Then unscrew the bolt all the way out and you will see the mesh screen, clean it out.

I have a question regarding oil changes as well. I have a 2000 DS I just picked up, and I want to change the oil in it. I went to my local Bombardier shop, and they want $11.00 per quart of synthetic Bom. oil, and $14.00 for a Bom. filter. I can't believe it's gonna cost close to $60.00 for an oil change using OEM supplies. I'm sure I can find a filter, probably a Fram, etc alot cheaper. I asked one of the service guys I've known for awhile what he suggested, and he was dead set on the Bombardier oil. He said I would have clutch slippage problems if I didn't. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there's other products out there that you all are using that have got to be as good, or better, and alot cheaper too. Any help would be greatley appreciated by both me, and my wallet.

Yeah I have the mesh filter also. The 70.00 was hard to do but it will pay for itself shortly as high as the stock filters are. Id also suggest Honda or Valvoline atv oil. They are both alot cheaper. I used Kawasaki 10W40 for a year because I worked for a dealer and when I changed to a high compression piston the motor looked great inside and very clean so Id suggest a name brand oil thats not synthetic. A 10W40 is my choice just keep it checked and changed regularly.

I was thinking of going with that reusable filter. Got a baby coming in the next week or two, so anything that spendy has got to wait for a bit. So why not a synthetic oil?
