Default 2004 DS650 Swingarm extension

I have an 04 BAJA and hated the alum shorter swingarm. So I converted mine to an 03 swingarm and it works so much better. It still lifts the front end up but no where near as easy. I am alot more comfortable with the 03. To convert it you will need; 00-03 swingarm, all 4 plastic guides and pads from 00-03, longer chain 00-03, longer brake line 00-03, lower shock shims from a 00-03, lower shock bolt from 00-03, & rear caliper mount from the carrier 00-03. The change over was very easy. On a scale from 1-10 I would say it was a 3.

You also have to swap the upper bushings-bearings from the 04 into the 00-03. The are different.

I got the swingarm on ebay for $40. The rest of it cost about $200.

I just got back from the beach i ran stock tyres no lifting as long as you get right on the bars climbing steep ones .plenty of traction must be a four stroke thing, I LIKE MY DS A LOT.

I will try the sand stars again in summer when the sand has dried right out.

Are you running 22" Sand Stars? If so, do you have any rubbing against the heel guards?

No i went with the 20" as i read a few posts about that happening and i didnt want to start having to change gearing ect

We dont have any dunes over say 150 feet here most days u can make it up them all on stock rubber unless its been dry for a while but that isnt a big problem in scotland we get plenty of rain here.

so the 20" have more than enough bite for me

once they were on i checked the clearance and there was still a bit to spare but i would find out a bit more before u went and ordered 22"

the only thing i would say is that on the 10" rim (douglass .160) the 20" sandstar looks like it isnt wide enough for the rim it looks a little streched and the rim would be easily damaged if it hit any thing
