i got a friend that has on 01' DS and he said the only mods he has is cams and exaust. he said thats all you need and that his is crazy vrazy fast. is this true? if so, how much do cams cost?

It all depends on how much u have to spend and how fast u are looking to go. An endcap is the sure thing if u don't wanna send the money on a full system, the only thing is it is loud and not pretty. lol. As for the rest, ported intake is about $150, and a carb about $450. His cams were prob $350, and his exhaust was probibly $500. so either way u are lookin at about the same cost. Personally i would think the carb intake and exhaust would burn his cams, but thats just me.

I like to mod from the outside then work my way to inside. Do all the bolt ons first (exhaust, carb, intake, cdi) which make a good foundation for mods you may do in the future. Cams should be designed for a specific engine, so if you get cams now and then latter add larger valves or 720 kit, those same cams may not be the optimal setup.

take your quad it more fun that way and you can see what a good mod is compared to you machine. i have a hard time seeing just cams being faster different but faster, it seems they change power location, more than anything.

cline,
I would NEVER put bigger cams in and keep the stock compression piston, you will lose way too much bottom end power. I had WEB 110's (all around cams) on top of a 12.5:1 piston then went to the WEB 109's (race) just a couple of days ago, lost a lot of power from 4,000 to 6,000 rpms and that's on alky too. But it screams from 6,000 to 8,000 now.
Little Sahara dunes are at Waynoka, Ok. Very close to the panhandle.
