Duneme- You are right, the gap is shrinking. The added cost of installing/balancing a new rod for the raptor drove the price up. One thing that i have noticed is the amount of 727's and 740's being built. Everyone knows that the stock rod is a weak link on a built raptor, so the guys that are splitting the cases for the rod are generally bypassing the 686 bore and going larger for the same amount of money.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] A well built raptor without a rod cost 2000 dollars and with a rod about 600-1000 more depending on rod selection. I used to think that DS guys were knutz for dropping over 5000 in pammi parts, but i have seen with my eyes more than 10 guys spend well over that figure figure at Craycraft for modded raptor motors. I believe Bob has one shipping shortly that is over the 8000 dollar mark. the prices add up in a hurry.

What are you seeing as far as power - Craycraft 686 or 730 vs. DS 730?

I don't know if BigBaja's 720 vs/ 1Bads 686 is a good comparison or not??? I'm sure we'll hear how they compare once they both get their new set-ups going!
