Ahhh.
You know the real combination of open desert and trails that surrounds LHC.
And in your oppinion this quad WILL handle everything out here with little or no unhappiness ???

I would love to bring it there and ride some day. I have the red/black ds without the skid plates that the X has and would advise the skid plates for you.
COOL
Thanks for the comments.

abyss, I was in the same boat that you are in, I went with tha 03 Baja for a 04 Trail boss for the wife and a 03 Rally for my son. I couldn't be happier with the choices. I also do some riding in LHC, There is a lot of good desert riding to the south of town, some good little sand dunes to the north of windsor and wide open desert riding across the lake at the landing. Good luck!
Abyss send me a private message, and I might be able to help you out finding good quads for the family!!!

Its interesting you mention the Polaris Trail Boss for your wife.
Because that is Exactly the one my wife is liking the most at this point.
And if I had to make a snap decission right now, that is what I would buy for her.

The 12 year olds are more of a problem.

Default Should I buy??

Hi there,

I just bought a 2004 Baja X and let me tell you for the normal sized american adult this is the bike for you.
I had my choice of any bike on the market or even two cheaper bikes if I wanted but once you sit on this bike its all over.
It is the best!. A real grown up adult designed it and keeps refineing it every year it gets better. This is kind of like a full sized truck for full sized people. They are not made by small orientals for orientals. This is a big bike but like others have said. If you want some thing disposeable go with the top for makers (Yam, Hon, Kaw, or Suz) but when you want a real bike a bike that can go 80+mph safely and can handle any thing you can throw at it go with the DS you will never regret it. My friend who owns a Raptor 660 really likes his bike but would trade up if he could. Don't get me wrong the Raptor is a great bike to but he is 6'2" pulling easy 300lbs and wishes he could get the adult sized version of the raptor. I keep telling him its called a DS.
I found the bike to be great in every environmetn I have had it on Fire roads, trails, Dunes, and smaller jumps. I am 36 year old guy doing doubbles in not my idea of haveing a good time unless I want to loos my job, house and medical for being in the hospital for 6 - 9 mos for getting hurt.
Head out to your favorite spot in the dirt look for a guy or gal with a DS ask to ride it more than likely you will be sold.

Good luck with your purchse. Remember if it dosen't feel right as soon as you sit on it its not going to get any better. The DS is the bike for me.

The DS feels the best to me backside by far.
Just wanting to be cautious before I plunk down a rather large chunk of hard earned cash.!

Does anybody know what the 2005 models will offer different from the 2004??
At this point in my season, I can see NO reason at all to buy anything before next October.
its just getting too darn hot to ride....

If your wife is anything like mine, she will love the Trail boss, it rides like a caddie!

My wife was taken in by the soft "Wide" seat.
And the lack of a clutch and shifter was just fine by her.

Default Should I buy??

So, considering everyone is pretty strongly in favour of me buying this quad for the type of riding I am looking at, the next question becomes which one.

The DS-650
The Baja
The Baja-X

Am I better off with a basic unit and aftermarket bolt-ons, or buying a complete package.

Should I get a 2004 and sit on it over the summer or wait for the 2005s to be released in a couple months ? ??
