I too heard was told by MRHP that he is blueprinting a 16:1 piston. You may want to speak with him on that piston but I know it's in the works.

16:1 is around 338 psi of cranking pressure with Web 109 cams and around 366 psi with stock cams (assuming 3% leakdown).
14:1 is around 292 psi of cranking pressure with Web 109 cams and around 316 psi with stock cams (assuming 3% leakdown).

I can't find how to disable the compression release in the DS shop manual. It shows how to do a leakdown. Can anyone help me with the right procedure for disabling the compression release. I want to do both a compression check to verify figures I was given and a leakdown just for my own knowledge.

a safe and easy way is to use a VERY THIN piece of small cardboard (such as from individual spark plug box lid) rolled into a small cylinder and insert into the gap between cam and decompressor. Just be careful that the cardboard doesn't fall into motor and don't forget to remove when done! Don't forget to hold throttle wide open when doing compression test. I always turn over several times (not just once) until reading settles out.

Can't you just take the compression release out of the DS motor and sling it ??
In my XR650 motor it has to be removed to run a decent cam anyway, have not had one for years.
Compression releases are a pain, just as soon do without one, just a little harder on the starter.
A lot easier to check specs.
