The picture CLEARLY looks like natural aluminum. However, when comparing to the picture here:
http://www.on-dunes.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=385

It is obviously the picture of the Annodized Black power tip. Even when I look at the picture on the website, I would say it is a natural aluminum finish. (Even though the text label contradicts that by labeling it as Annodized Black.) When I look at DSEngineer's pic I would say that is --clearly- black. As was stated before - when buying on eBay ask lots of questions before you buy. Be sure to leave positive feedback though, you did get exactly what was advertised, however it's unfortunate that the picture sucks. I imagine the product is good so I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.

It's not like you got it and it was cracked or unusable.

Thanks for all your opinions. At least I'm not the only one who felt the ad is misleading. Yes, I should have asked questions and have definately learned my lesson. But I also believe in confronting a bad deal when I see one.

Well after two days of e-mails with this seller and him trying to tell me his ad is completely clear and finally telling me off, he decides to go update the ad to include the word 'BLACK". What a weasel.

It is interesting reading isn't it? So the guy left out info you that you wanted, and you say its misleading. So, he tries to correct future problems and you call him a weasel. And lastly, he cuts you a deal on a aluminum finish one and gives free shipping, and you're still not satisfied. I really don't know what else to say DSengineer - except some things aren't always what they seem - and sometimes its not anybody's fault.

So, he tries to correct future problems and you call him a weasel. - No, I called him a weasel because he sore up and down his original ad was clear and that is why he would not do an exchange. If the ad was so clear and I was wrong then why turn around and update it with the word "Black"?????

And lastly, he cuts you a deal on a aluminum finish one and gives free shipping, and you're still not satisfied. - Who do you think had to pay shipping and stand in line for an hour to send the black unit back. When its all said and done I'm not getting any kind of deal here. The right thing to do would have been to make a straight exchange. Even then I would have been out the shipping to send the black unit back but I would have been fine with that.

I really don't know what else to say DSengineer - except some things aren't always what they seem - and sometimes its not anybody's fault. - I'm not the one who posted the ad!

I'm sorry if I ruffled anybodys feathers but this could have been handled a lot better.

The real problem here is contrast. When shooting a picture of a black item, it should be on a white background. The camera can make it look overexposed by trying to compensate for the black image. Have you asked for all of your money back? He may not be able to exchange the unit because of his cost difference. It would seem to me that all deals should be "win win" or "no deal". If you are not satisfied, then you should ask (and keep the loaded gun in your pocket when you do) for a refund.

I've had a few bad deals on Ebay and most could have been resolved by asking questions and looking over the photos carefully to avoid mistakes.
I never noticed the description but never doubted it was black annodized. I guess from being around alot of bicycle parts it doesn't seem hard to tell. You should have kept it, black anno is alot cooler and you won't spend time polishing it.

He would not do a refund period. The problem is in the fact that the pic was taken using a flash. See my pics to see what I am talking about. I even sent him both of the pics and explained to him what I thought the problem was. He got defensive and swore he did not use a flash when taking the pic and that it was taken in natural light. You be the judge. Does the sellers pic look like 1 or 2? Its pretty obvious.

Anyways this whole ordeal has taken up way too much of my time and effort over a silly endcap. I went ahead and paid the weasel the extra money for the aluminum finish.

I'm done here. Lets all talk about something else.

ODP,
I do see the refund. Thanks.
I was never really pissed, just frustrated that he did not see, or want to admit there was a problem with the ad after I had pointed it out.
Maybe when this is all said and done we will be able to make amends and continue to do business.
