what is atock for a ds 14 tooth?
if it is you risk chain damage by going that big if stock is 15 you should be alright though and also if
a stock ds hits 76 mph give or take you should be well into the mid 80s

Second gear starts are a snap if your not afraid to dump the clutch with the RPMs up there by the rev limiter! I even run a 17/38 combo with 20" tires .

I have this gearing with stock exhaust stock jetting. I also have K&N and RWR heavy clutch springs. In my opinion, I feel that I can use the low end better with the 17T. The stock gears are undergeared for the motors power curve, remember the 650 is actually a street bike motor capable of low- mid 100mphs on a motorcycle of about the same weight (BMW 650). With a pipe, you could easily pull an 18T but would be safer with the heavy duty clutch springs for durability. The 17T should give you around 82 mph, you WILL hit the rev limiter in 5th. The 18T will approach 90mph, again occasionally pinging the rev limiter in 5th. These combos with a new rev limiter should be 85mph + with the 17T and 93-95 with the 18T. Bottom end performance, oddly, seems better and mid range is even more of a beast and the top end speaks for itself. Use 20 inch tires with thes combos for best results.
