I believe I payed 7 something for the dual 39FCR setup. It is better then my TM 45 set up was. Mostly on top and it revs quicker without the stumble. Better than the TM48 or the 46HV????dunno haven't tried them yet. Just remember NO carb comes tunned for your bike. You will have to do some tunning yourself. So no matter what setup you go with stick with it until it's tuned and you'll be very happy over the stock carb.

Larry, Speaking of tuning, I have been wondering about my power jet size. My plug has looked blackish rich, but I never did a legit plug check on the hill, So I was out tinkering w/ the bike and decided to go leaner on my PJ and the bike came alive WAY more on the top end, actually @ WOT it just pulled way hard

EFI is a good way to go from what I hear, And the lectron that mr hp sent me took me $300 in dyno time and w whole lot of street tuning to get it dialed in to the max.(So it REALLY costed me $1100). They do not come spot on IMO. But some do come close enough to where you can start to squeeze more power out. The lectron that I have has a very impressive power curve compared to my tm 48mm.

Mario...thats way cool. I know you got those Lectrons figured out prety well. 1Badraptor (Sam) can attest to that. As well as BigDaddy.

Don't forget the ported intake. Another $125

TM45-$375.00 + $125.00= $500.00 & the lectron 46HV-$550+ $125.00= $675.00 & KMS EFI-$1,400 + $125.00= $1,525.00 or $1,400 with out the ported intake? I guess the EFI doesn't need the ported intake @ $1,400.00 but does one of the others perform better for the money with out it? Costumer service worth anything in the results? It is about what you have to spend to go fast for the money IMO!

is anybody doing one mod at a time to know what is actually giving the power changes? seems the fuel injection is going to tune well carbs is a work to be done almost all the time. something funny about the 45 is i had that lowend bog like everyone, then i put the airtube back on and i can't say i've had it, not that i spend much time at 3000 and below but the machine dunes pretty good, or at least when i come to a razor back i can just hit the throttle and launch. i have done a lot of mods now, and i have noticed minor mods, major mods, and worse mods. and for the average person i'd say the carb is a minor to worse than mod, i just read mario spent 300 to get his tuned to perfect, no mention of his time. i took mine to the shop for the first set up and have spend a lot of time on it since. seems at this point if you want a carb ready to go the lectron from eric is the only way to go, or if you have a dyno in your shop go for what ever one you like.

Default "HELP" WHICH CARB IS THE BEST????

SANDMAN430,

I installed the Lectron without any other modifications at all aside from the billet thumb throttle. I already had the ported intake etc. so it was a very true test of the carburetor on it's own. I gained a lot of power from the carburetor & I think now that I've played with it a little and fine tuned it that I've got even more power out of it. Without any fine tuning when running Competition Hill at Dumont, CA (which is a decent hill, not a joke like the Glamis comp or Pismo) I gained about 7 MPH and 1000 RPMs going up the hill. It's been too hot at Dumont to go back since I've messed with the settings but I -assume- I'll get more out of it. I might end up getting new tires before I hit Dumont again though so if that happens I wont have any more info to add. I've never run any other aftermarket fuel system on my DS so I can't compare it to those nor have I ever dynoed my ATV in stock or modified trim, but my results up comp hill prove a considerable change. I'd also like to note that on my Baja, with the 7900 RPM limit stock CDI I was never really able to hit the limiter when riding (getting ready to start a drag I hit it all the time) but with the Lectron I can / do hit it constantly as the engine picks up RPMs so much faster - just a blip of the throttle and it's bumping the limit.

I paid:
$145-ish for the bittel throttle, cable etc.
$150 for the ported intake
$550 for the carburetor

$850 approximate total.

the TM45 is cheaper, the dual FCRs I'd be willing to bet cost a little more, and the EFI is more. I think between these four options you really get what you pay for, some better in certain areas. I don't like the idea of the FCRs forcing me to cut my frame, that just isn't going to happen. I had to egg out a bump in my IMS tank for the Lectron which wasn't too bad since it doesn't affect the ability of the tank to do it's job. (Perhaps 0.5 oz less capacity.) If the EFI fits under the IMS tank even better then that would be a really nice alternative for those with the IMS tank or those who want to run it.
