Well looks like mine is stripped. Changed the oil and It's pretty good in there but I'll be needing a heli-coil in there soon. Anyone know know what the thread size is on the plug. The microfiche I have doesn't reveal it.

I am almost positive that it is 18mm and 1.5mm thread pitch. When I tripped mine I tapped it out to a 20mm x 1.5mm. Then I found a site that sells drain plugs with magnuts in them and bought one.
Also it's the same bolt that holds your cam chain tensioner in 18mm x 1.5mm....but thats another bad story

I found the site http://www.magneticdrainplugs.com/ make sure you use as short as possible of a drain plug. so you don't hit the oil screen. Mine had no probs.

Larry,

Are you still considering selling the 2001 and buying a new 2005 - or did you find something else to spend your cash on?

Hey Chris...time before last out at Dumont the 400 took a crap. Gonna have to spend some duckets on a 440 kit But ya never know what the future might hold

Coming from a guy who owns two DS650s, let me throw a thought at you: why not sell the 400, keep the 2001, and then buy the 2005? The 2001 even with all of the goodies removed will have more power than the 440 and you've got a lot of blood sweat & tears into that machine. I know for a fact having two of the same machine makes it sooooo much easier buying parts etc. for them. That and when your fixing one if you need reference from the other, well, it's sitting right there!

My buddy stores his DS at my house. You don't know how many times having his just sitting there help referenced a TON of stuff.

I gotta feeling Honda is going to discontinue the 400 EX. I wouldn't mind finding one cheap. I kind of miss my old one cause it was king at wheelies. They are dogs though really underpowered.

Eagle I think as far as mistakes me and you are about even =D
