Tony, dont you worry, Preacher told me not to run alky in this particular motor. He said nos would be fine. Ive been advised that I can only run a 15 shot, 20 max.
I heard that the nos will take real good to higher compression, I just cant run over 15-20. A 15 should put me @ 80 hp on the low reading dyno down here, that is enough for me. Besides, Bigdaddy has been hooking nos up for years and we will do it right. Thanks for the concern, If I fry my rings ill freshin it up. Jeff said the worst I can do is burn pilugs. I think I should run very high octane. O well. we will just have to see, ill report back sunday.

I was impressed to see what a 20 shot did for a stock piston YFZ, the difference was about half the hill. Theres only one way to find out.

Well like I said I am going to try and make it down that weekend and if you are going to come tony it would be great to see you again. Mario that bike with a 15 or 20 shot would be a rocket!! It will be a very interesting race if major can get the turbo dialed in and pulling the hill all the way. Well keep us informed and I hope to see you guys in a week or so.

As long as you have strong rings, loose tolerences with NOS is a good thing. To a point of course. The heat that is generated from running nitrous causes excess expansion. A looser tolerance will allow better for that expansion. There are some mods that need to be done to the chamber components if your running high compression on NOS to prevent hot spots from developing causing predetonation. Without changing your timing, I agree Mario, I wouldnt go any higher than a 20 shot on your high compression motor. Also your right, go with a very high octane fuel with a low specific gravity and get some colder plugs. I would think you'll be just fine.

Thanks for the info Demon, That is exactly what I thought also about the loose tolerances. My combustion chamber has been "tooled" (whatever that means). Also I dont know if this helps, but my combustion chamber has been coated with some type of ceramic that is supposed to deflect heat, I dont know if this helps for the nos though. I dont know much about nos. I will take precautions. Thanks

You dont want to run nos, then there is no way I can run with you let me know if you are coming and I will try and make it so you can have a bench mark again

Ltz yes I run the yellow yfz but it is silver flames and blue background, with the trimmed up plastic, have you ran against me or seen me run?

Sam, What was I thinking, He has to beat you first... You guys are real close in (Cali) you should schedule a race so we can see how the 505ex runs, I dont think shane has seen either of our bikes run lately, BUT, then again we havnt seen his machine run lately either, ill give him the benifit of the doubt and he can run you first. Better yet- How about both of ya come to Dumont @ night -ASAP it is about 85 degrees at night (perfect), We can have a miniature shootout w/ a little video action.. And then we will all know whos billygoatin up the hill fast. Sounds like a plan to me.
