Factory Bogging
#1
Hi guys, I too have that factory bog. I took it in and they changed my main jet from 165 to 160. They also changed a spring in the carb. This did not fix a damn thing the bog is back. Who else is having the same problem and did you get it fixed. My dealer told me he was getting tired of trying to fix the bogging problem. He told me that Bombardier has no fix. I think it is in the jetting but I am not a mechanic. If it is a jetting problem are you guys having the same problem and what was your fix. This quad is a super machine except for the bogging. My altitude is 3600 feet. They say the carb is a Mikuni BSR 42 but when I go to the Mikuni web page it is not listed. Your help to my problem would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has contacted Bombardier what did they tell you.
Thanks

I'm sure you've checked, but is the air filter clean? Does the DS run better with the airbox lid off? If so, you probably are still too rich. Was your float level checked as well? Have you tried adjusting the jet needle position? Have you tried adjusting the pilot air screw when the DS is at operating temperature? What do your plugs look like? I am running a 165 main jet, jet needle in second lowest/leanest position, 500ft altitude, 90 degrees. K&N filter in airbox with airbox lid on. Colder D9EA plugs that are light tan with a tiny patch/strip of gray. Carb spring CAREFULLY stretched from 109mm to 135mm.
Is this the problem you still have... I thought it was fixed?

"My problem was if I honked on the throttle it would bog out and there would be a slight jerking or missing until the RPM'S built up then it would kick in and go like hell. This happened at a stand still and also in 3rd and fourth gear. If I would slip the clutch to get the RPM'S up it was fine. What I don't know is which fix was the one that corrected the problem.
1. going from a 165 to a 160 main jet
2. changing the spring in the carb
3. the dealer regrounded my coil.
All I know is when I took it out for a rip down the road there was no hesitation period. When I honked on the throttle in any gear the RPM'S would climb without any hesitation. So now I will wait and see if the problem returns."

wolfman,
You need to check the length of the spring. Simply changing the spring will not correct the problem. the spring needs to be stretched to 135mm at rest. If the spring was stretched check to make sure it hasn't relaxed back to less than 135mm. I have had to restretch mine twice.
