you can take it for gospel that you MUST tune the main jet first and work you way down from there.
the method for pilot selection in the tuning manual for this carb is very spot on and accurate, and you definitely want to achieve the end result of the idle mixture screw at 2 turns out from seated. and take my word for it changing the needle even one clip position will alter this, and if the needle is set too high and then the main is changed it will be altered by that too.
I would put in a 97 needle on the 3rd groove, then dyno tune the main for peek hp, and utilize the idle screw method for pilot selection.
#50 accel pump nozzle is also what you want, pointed directly at needle for better breakup and atomization set to squirt right off idle to just a little over 1/3 throttle travel.
I'm surpised at the 145 main, my stock bore with stock valves makes peek with a 160, and a couple 760's I know run a 165 - this at seas level..
