Coolant leaking from gasket.....suggestions?
#1
I've fired up my DS today and and I can see there is some coolant leaking from the back of the cylinder where the gasket mates the head and the jug. You can clearly see a small, very thin gap where it seems be seeping from. It's not extreme, but it does weep some coolant out. The gaskets are copper and were part of my 720 kit from TVI. Anyone had a similar problem. I probably should take a pic and post to give a clearer idea. I thought it was the small hose at first but now it's evident it's coming from a gasket.

How bad is your head gasket leaking? How much coolant are you losing?
You are losing power but, if it is just losing a drop a ride I'ld guess you would be fine for a while.
My bike when stock started to get a head gasket leak near the exhaust side. Didn't seem to bother it much.

im having the same exact problem im losing coolant from right around the timing chain tensioner area. If I ride for about 45 minutes my top radiator hose is just getting empty. The antifreeze isnt even hitting any oil passages or getting into the cylinder because i Just got back from hatfield mccoy trails and I kept filling the radiator with antifreeze for 4 days and my oil is not one bit milky. I guess I'll have to give gary a call here in the next week. Maybe my gasket was faulty from the get go. On the other hand I got a chance to try out my new lectron 48 hv. I will tell you what that thing is an amazing carb. I love it. the thumb throttle stiffness is not even an issue if routed correctly. I went right over top the gas tank. but underneath the gas tank cover. I still have a top end tuning problem I need to get ahold of randall for but I do have to say one thing, customer service at hp research and richards recreation is second to none. I feel like I'm bothering them everytime I call over there but they are more than happy to help you. great job randall.

the copper gasket calls for that sealer to be used on it seems it it was done right i could see some water escaping. haven't had any head gasket leaks in a year, water pump seals went last ride, replaced and all is good.

ds650king,
I feel the same way about HPResearch, customer service is primo.
Let me know what you conclude with TVI. What I plan to do is send my jug out to HPResearch bore it to 730 and get his high compression piston, and quite possibly replace all my gaskets. It's only leaking from that one spot
King, I got a Stage III bud I'd like ya to race against. Your not too far from Jersey.... maybe we can hookup and ride together sometime.
