Ok, we did rolling starts on pavement in 2nd or 3rd gear probably around 25mph. and that YFZ and I were dead even all the way until he hits his rev limiter in 5th gear and Then I shift into 5th gear and pull him on the top end. I mean, I did not out run him unil I hit like 82mph.. We did this several times and we were literly dead even or where neither would gain if the other was in front. We did it on dirt also with the same results... This was just a piped and properly jetted YFZ rider weight was 180-190..
My DS has well, lets just say more then a pipe. but I also had my cooler and 1gal of gas on the back and I am not 190 either! I am right around 240. Does these results seem proper?? I really thoght I would smoke him..
All gearing and tire sizes were stock and I missed a few shifts but the might DS hung in there....

I have not been beat by one yet.
Stock for stock the Yammy is a little faster, but you can make both of them fast. I saw a lot of Hondas @ SilverLake this weekend. I saw some Black Yfz's looked pretty sharp. I saw some nice looking preditors too, they must have some different colors now.

What Sandman said - in a hill shootout, power to weight ratio is key - and the YFZ will be the favorite. On flat drags wide open, thats a different story - I suspect the DS will have the advantage in top speed. In MX racing, the YFZ will be very tough to beat.

well on our short hill they are hard to beat, sand mt nev. they fade. for those of you that haven't lost there some i'm seeing in the 5.5 range in 300 ft. that will get a lot of people attention. seems most stock quads run 6.1 to 6.4 so there getting there times down.
