Default Oregon Dunes

I am planning a trip to the Oregon Dunes, Winchester bay. This is my first trip and I was planning on staying at the dicovery point camp grounds. I was wondering if anyone has stayed there so i can know what to expect. They say you can ride out of the campgraounds into the dune that would be a big plus. Any feedback on this would be apprieciated

Yes, you can ride from discovery point, however, you have to cross a paved road and ride alongside the road for approx 1/4 mile on gravel shoulder to the access to the sand. Not bad and the camp is nice, grassy areas with connections. Lots of people do it and the dunes at winchester are great. Hope you have a great time.

its a good campground, they have a little store that has a bunch of parts there, with pretty good prices. if you are stying there for a while, you might what to make a trip to florence, windy bay is small, so you could get bored...

Its a private campground - and does have a few years under its belt - but I would not call it run down at all. As with most private compgrounds, things are a bit more compact. Thats not nessesarily a bad thing. I like it there.
