Default Battery Charger??

I've had a couple of batteries run dead on me in my quads and dirtbike, is there any harm in recharging via a normal battery charger? I have to get a trickle charger but I'm curious if it will cause any problems in a pinch?

not really any harm in it to speak of. it may shorten the battery life in the long run. just set your charger on the lowest amp rating that it has. and get a tender asap.

be carefull tho.... Even at the lowest setting they tend to boil pretty easy and will loose water. make sure they are full before you charge them to save yourself the agony of trashing your battery.

You'll want to charge them at no more than 2 amps.
Using a 10 amp charger will cook them too much.
I have destroyed Jet Ski batteries using a regular car battery charger set @ 10 amps.

I use a battery tender (1/2 amp charge rate) and it is automatic (senses battery voltage and keeps it at a full charge). Never have to worry about the battery being dead when it's time to ride.
