Default Anyone read the sand shootout in ATV rider mag??

They did a shootout between 7 machines in the dunes. Raptor, 450R, YFZ450, Predator500, Vforce, DS x, and of course, the Banshee.

The Banshee came in last. The Raptor 1st. The DS was beat out by the vforce.

Here is my question. It said the DS had a very problematic transmission. Where did that come from? Ive beat the livin (you know what), out of my DS since 2000, and have not had one problem. They said it would slip into neutral, or miss shifts, or not shifting at all. Did they make some changes for the newer models? Anyway, this would be the first Ive ever heard of a problematic tranny on the Bomb.

Anyone have these problems?

Gary

this month's DirtWHeels says the opposite - says the DS has one hell of a smooth transmission, gave it two thumbs up. then they posted up against the W-TEch with the funy suspension and KTM 525 motor and called it a tie in the desert - pretty cool considering the KTM quad with the funky suspension csot over $15K.

Ditto here, never had a tranny prob - '01 bought new in jan of '01 with 500 super hard hours on it. gone through a couple clutches though...

Ya know, I wonder where they get the quads to test? If they got it from Bombardier Ill bet that it wouldnt have ANY problems. But if gotten from dealer or some private owner chances are it wasnt taken care of properly !?! Just a thought.....

When I hear of a Magazine Shoot Out I hear ........ bla bla bla ....

When I read any of these magazines I take whatever they say with a grain of salt. Look at all the ads in the mags. What can they really say when the same companies bikes they are testing are also paying for advertising in they magazine? Kinda a conflict of interest. Just my 2 cents.
