Cylinder replating question.
#1
Getting excessive blow by, pulled cylinder when i changed my shift forks. measured the cylinder, and im out of spec on the top if measured just below TDC from front to back of cylinder wall. The plating is worne through in one small spot.
Im down for the winter now, what do i need to know about fixing this. I've never dealt with plated aluminum cylinders. Can it be board clean and replated? And how do i find someone to do it?
Im in central wisconsin.
Thanks
Dave.

Dave,
your in luck! The best nikasil coater in the US is in Wi, you're looking $180 to have it bored, stripped and replated,
just send them the piston you using, specify your wall/piston clearance ( usually about .004"), turn around time is about 10 working days.
ask for Kirt- 920-893-5595
also the jug comes back bare unless you ask to have it powder coated.

Thats good to know, A buddy of mine had his rings sieze, and made some nice scratches in his cylinder wall. Not very deep as you can kinda feel it with your fingernail, so not like a gouge. How is his work?
