well said Major, BTW how much did some of us pay in taxis 20-30-40% ? terdresa Heinz 15% does some thing seem wrong here? and for all who think Bush got a cherry pie handed to him when he got into office is lacking a little info. Does N. Korea and Nuclear ring a bell? Bush had a huge, HUGE mess handed to him( thank you sklick *****). Then with 9-11 on top of that. I would say Bush has done a very good job of keeping the our nations head above water and moving forward. I think Kerry is deviding the Nation by bashing the President over and over. no respect for a president in war time. what do you think the terriost are doing now looking at us on CNN. there laughing there a$$ of at us buy deviding us there winning!! eventualy it my be our own demise. But to each there own. lets vote!!

Not to change topics but here is an interesting tidbit on John Edwards and our current flu vaccine crisis.

This information comes from a science teacher at a high school in Oregon - very interesting.......CATCH THE NAME AT THE END!!!!

How the vaccine works:

Influenza vaccine is produced by growing the virus in eggs. The virus is killed and processed to create the vaccine, which is given by injection under the skin. The body then produces antibodies to the virus over the next two to four weeks. If the immunized person then comes into contact with the influenza virus, the antibodies attack and kill the virus before it has a chance to cause infection. The vaccine contains the 3 most likely strains to be active during the "flu season"

Why the shortage?

Almost half of the nation's flu vaccine will not be delivered this year.

Chiron, a major manufacturer of flu vaccine, will not be distributing any influenza vaccine this flu season. Chiron was to make 46-48 million doses vaccine for the United States. Chiron is a British company. Recently British health officials stopped Chiron from distributing and making the vaccine when inspectors found unsanitary conditions in the labs. Some lots of the vaccine were recalled and destroyed.

Why is our vaccine made in the UK and not the US?

The major pharmaceutical companies in the US provided almost 90% of the nations flu vaccine at one time. They did this despite a very low profit margin for the product. Basically, they were doing us a favor. In the late 80's a man from North Carolina who had received the vaccine got the flu. The strain he caught was one of the strains in that year's vaccine made by a US company. What did he do? He sued and he won. He was awarded almost $5 million! After that case was appealed and lost, most US pharmaceutical companies stopped making the vaccine. The liability outweighed the profit margin.

Since UK and Canadian laws prohibit such frivolous law suits, UK and Canadian companies began selling the vaccine in the US. By the way..... the lawyer that represented the man in the flu shot law suit was a young ambulance chaser by the name of John Edwards.

interesting but hard to believe a Jury awarded a man 5 mil for catching the Flu?? Ambulance chasers should all be lined up and .....
well they should at least be roosted bad! but then again they would sue the tire companies, the companies that make the fuel that was used in the machine, the motor manufactures and ATV designers, the companies that make the throttles that were used or could have been used, carb manufactures etc, etc..... medical malpractice suits have to have caps and frivelous suits have to be eliminated or we will be spending more on monthly insurance premiums than on our mortgage payments.

Major, i don't pretend to be political and Mudnuri nailed it, all the people in this country and these two are the best we could come up with?
I don't blame Bush for every problem, and some of the problems you listed don't affect me at all.
I know the troops are doing some good but did they happen to mention how much hate we have generated in the Midddle East? The kind of hate that causes more people to be willing to sacrifice their lives to hurt the U.S? The presidents own advisors said we may have just created a thousand more Bin Ladens.
We can't afford to be the worlds police when we have enough problems to take care of at home! Let's see, how long ago were we wiping out certain groups and enslaving others in our own country? How would we have felt about another country invading to take care of those problems or to stop us from developing weapons?
I don't believe I haven't acknowledged we are at war, just that it's with the wrong people (Iraq). And as for war, you can't forsee everything but you can go in prepared.
WW2? Great comparison, We get attacked and then what, after a half hearted attempt to find who's responsible invade Mexico?
So you got a little kick back on your taxes but you haven't seen the bill yet!

No matter who you support, vote Tuesday!

The intelligence at the time told our president and the world about Iraq's weapons. The only reason the Russians and French opposed the war at the time was their behind the door deals with Saddam regarding the oil for food program. We all thought Iraq had the capability and could use WMD if not soon, tomorrow. So, the intelligence was bad, not just ours, and others too. Based on the information at the time the president had no other choice. Look at the many (10+) U.N. resolutions, the most recent 1441 which was ignored by Saddam. If Iraq wouldn’t have ignored the many resolutions, we wouldn’t be there today. Why? Because we’d have known what he had and didn’t have. So, we sit back with the terrorist threats and do nothing? Especially after 9-11? I believe we made the right decision at the time based on the intelligence at the time. The data today tells us differently. The government is re-working the FBI and CIA to get them on the same page. Hopefully some good comes from that. On the government, Dem or Rep, we'll never know the whole truth to any issue.

I'm supporting the President tomorrow. If he loses, then we'll see how John Kerry does. I'm not going to cry if Kerry wins. As I wrote earlier, he'll become our president, my president.

You know, I hear the same retorhic every four years.
So many people put their faith into these guys. Men they don't even know.
You should see the people fighting here in Florida. I mean fist fighting. " I love Bush!" I love Kerry!" " Hey you suck!" " No, you suck!" POW! The fists start flying. For what? They don't even know either of the two. They are so brainwashed that they believe everything their guy (candidate) says.
What's even worse is the population growth. Wait another 100 years. Then 100 more. You think there is trouble now? Ha!
Thank God or whoever that you will be dead.
This is a good thread. It definitely get's us HOT! However, it belongs on a political web site. Not here.
I would like to hear what you guys would do if you had the chance to run this country for 4 years. Not stupid stuff like " Oh, I would make ATVing street legal." I mean like health care issues. Trade issues. Education issues. Oh man. Forget it.
Were screwed

I like it, if elected, I promise to---
Make sure programs like head start have plenty of funding.
Instead of eliminating P.E. in schools, DOUBLE P.E., kids need all kinds of exercise but they are constantly told to sit still for too many hours of the day. Child obesity and diabetes are on the rise and I would also roll those soda machines out into the school yard and have them destroyed.
I'd stress alot more science in schools. The Pres got on a little kick awhile ago to possibly send a manned mission to Mars. The figures involved were astronomical at least. Some said that it would be worth any cost just to prove we could do it even if we didn't learn anything.I'd put that on hold, the money involved would put something like one million kids through engineering school. Think of what they might come up with. I say it's time for NASA to team up with Japan, Europe and whoever thats are contantly sending up these high failure rate space probes and share the cost and knowledge.
Tax the wealthy more and give a really healthy tax break to a parenting couple with only one income. It's time to reward people for doing the proper thing. If you have a problem with this, tough and congatulations, I'd like to be wealthy too some day and wouldn't mind paying extra.
Cut funding for super expensive future fighter planes and such weapons. I'm not saying don't keep up on technology, just come up with something more reliable than Majorecho's quad and we don't flush a billion down the toilet when we lose one. Get priorities right, we can afford one off super high tech gadgets but can't afford our Army?
Same thing goes for schools, around here we can afford nice new schools but not the teachers, our hospital has a new "healing garden" but laid off alot of nurses!
Really work on planning smaller communities and try to help people for spending so much of their time and money commuting, that time could be spent with their families or put to better use let alone causing less pollution.
Sounds great huh, I've no idea how to make it happen though.

My vote went to Bush. If Kerry gets into office you will not be riding your Quad anymore!! This scares me because San Diego is already crowded and everyone moving here so they can ride in Baja will suck! Do your research and see who is on your side. Read the article on the homepage on this site. Check out the ASA, ORBA and all the other non profit org. that are fighting for us. Here in southern Cali. we all have bumper stickers that say "Offroaders For Bush" we all need to stick together to save what we love to do.

As far as Iraq. I have allot of friends there and some that have come back. They all say the same thing. If Kerry is elected they will leave the military. There biggest fear is Kerry getting them killed. They all agree with Bush. There stories about Iraq are allot differant than you see on the news. One guy help rebuild 22 schools and get the children back in school. They built a water filteration plant. Iraq has never had a sewer system or filterd water. The scary thing for all of them was walking down the street in Iraq and people running up to them, hugging and thanking them for what they have done. Its pretty funny that I have not seen any of this on the news! If you are basing your vote on what Fox, CNN, ETC are telling you that sucks. Get the facts! There are more military killed in the US everyday than are being killed in Iraq!
