Can someone tell me what the lines coming off the carb are for on the DS? There are 2 small lines and 1 large line. I guess vents or something. Anyone know the real purpose?

Thanks.

the black ones are vents as far as I can tell. The clear one that runs to the airbox affects the vacuum action of the throttle valve. If you leave this one off the carb won't run right.

I don't have a clear one. I guess you are referring to the larger one that comes off the carb and not the two smaller ones.

I did find information on the two smaller ones. Not really sure exactly what they are for, but found a cool solution for them if you are running an open airbox, or no airbox at all.

I don't think this will really help much since I don't have a problem with bogging, but it will at least provide a filter for the vents.

I am curious about the larger hose that comes off the carb. I have a K&N attached directly to the carb. Where should this hose be connected? Right now I have it connected to a automotive breather filter. It seems to run fine.

Were you saying it need vacuum on this line for it to run right?

tdporter, I think you are fine with the filter on the end of the larger hose. What I was saying is, if you simply remove and discard the larger hose, when you nail the throttle, the motor will skip/hesitate.

But what is the difference of just removing it vs. putting a filter on the end?

I am wondering if it would be better to have it connected to the air filter. I saw a guy once that had a DS with a K&N on the carb and he had that vent running into the back of the K&N.

If it runs better that way, then I think I should connect mine there.

What do you think?
