KFX700 vs 05' DS Viper ???
#1
Hey guys, just had a small question. I got a guy at work, that has bet me $1,000 smackers that he can outrun my DS. His bike has a pipe and Holeshot tires on the rear. Thats it. Oh, and he weighs around 240-250lbs. Mine has tires, jet, and a filter. My bike really hooks hard too. It will flyswat ya' if you aren't careful. So, what do you guys think? Anyone ever have a duel with one of these beasts? Let me know.

He must have more than you know done to his in order for him to wage a grand. If he doesn't, well you just made a grand. I have seen one modified kfx700 that was worth a crap. It was perty quick. I would say about as quick as a well tuned stage2 DS. All the rest I see Fall flat on there face as soon as they hit the hill.
I say just start in second gear, lean forward as far as ya can, Rev it to the moon and dump the clutch. If ya wheelie don't let off on the throttle to much try to ride it out. Then power shift each gear untill ya get to the bank with his check.

I think he was talkin' out his azz, i mean a Grand is a little stupid. I think he might have meant it in a more "grand gesture" type of comment. But, you never know. He has not seen mine come out of the hole, i think he'll be suprized to say the least. After i beat him, i'm gonna race em' with my buds TRX450R, that would be too funny. We'll see. Well Mongo, from what everyone at work says, he's just somewhat of country boy. Not really on his game. He has a "BIG" cc bike, and he thinks it the bomb. Cause i guess there is nobody in Clermont,Fl to outrun him. Except for all the local utility bikes. It should be interesting to see his face.

I'm not sure of what type of race you're running, but 22" tires on stock gearing is a little sluggish.
I'd have a 14 and 15 tooth sprocket in the garage ready to gear for the race, and your bike would be ready to shut him down.
And I got to ask....you're not weighing in over 300lbs are you?

Well, it would be a straight shot drag race on level ground, in the dirt. I weigh 235lbs. You think the gearing is off for my tires? They aren't that much heavier than stock wheels. It's kinda hard for me to tell really(gearing), cause the thing spun' tires so bad before, now it's 100% improvement with the MudMachines. The bike feels faster everywhere, honestly. 1st-3rd gear, is a real blast now. The thing really hooks well. Maybe my weight is helping the stock gearing? I don't have anything to compare to really. Except the stock setup, and it feels alot better. What do you guys think?

I think you'd be surprised how well the 15 tooth front sprocket pulls. It pretty much neutralizes the tire change, and you are talking about a drag race. For under $30, its a cheap mod. Keep in mind the stock tires hook up real good for the first few rides, but seem to fade fast in the traction department.
and that's one dang nice end cap!!
