alky question ?
i switch from running gas to alky often and the reason is jetting! last time my bike was set up on the dyno for alcohol on a 65-70 degree day......and a few weeks ago i ran it and it was lean. cold weather leans them out..... that day i was up in genoa i blew a headgasket by running lean! if you are a good tuner and can find the sweet spot by running lean your quad will be at full potential! but your starving your bike for fuel and you can blow a head gasket, or even worse burn a hole in your piston! in my opinion its hard to find the sweet spot without a dyno or a egt because each time you change jetting you must redrill a set of mainjets. Correct me if im wrong but thats what ive learned! It is even more vital in 2 strokes because running to lean can cause major damage and that can be done by jetting or running out of alky on a pass! thats why powerjets are used on 2 smokes for easier tuning! Some guys even run fuel pumps to take care of the fuel starvation issue!

alky question ?
fuel pump is a good idea with the two stroke.may not need it with a stock bore in 300' but with big bores and 1/8 and 1/4 mile its a must.you'll run to lean before the 1/8..you dont need that big of jets when you have realy high compression because of the crankcase pressure on the 2 strokes.correct on the power jet carbs,i run the 39 from ftz .when the weather changes just turn the **** 1 turn and see if it cleans out.i run the ron wood onmy ds,i really like it.
