I just listed my 2000 DS locally.

It's got a Pami 703 with dual carbs and an MSD ignition among other things.

I've got alot of money into this thing but am only trying to get $5K for it.

With the YFZ and 450R now available, and also the fact that the price of a new DS has come down, I'm not even sure if I can that much.

 

I woulden't sell mine for less then 5500$ its just not worth it.

 

Well it wont sell for that. You can buy a brand new 05 regular DS for $5400 and a 05 Baja X for 6000.

I bought a new 2005 2 weeks ago for 5400 OTD and hate the thing I have called all over, and the best wholesale bid I got was 3000.00 the best trade allowance was 4000.00 the thing has about 15 to 30mins on it, thats it. I Finaly got the dealer to take it back after alot of talking and threts they are taking it back less a 10% restock fee wich I feel lucky, I finaly got that done. I talked to a used quad dealer that had a 2000 for 3500.00 and a 2002 for 3900.00 said he wasn't interested at all. good luck I think you can get a book value from kelley blue book. Its been my experince that if you can get anything for mods its at most 20cents on the dollar.

What you have into it means nothing. Its what the market is willing to pay and they arent willing to pay much with new ones being so cheap!!!

 

It all depends. There might be some punk kid out there with daddy's money and a little bit of knowledge in how much aftermarket crap is worth on these things. If I were looking for a new quad, I'd probibly buy a modded used one from a well known person/place with a good history than buy a brand new one and spend 8K in mods to achieve the same thing I could have gotten for 5K.

In town here there was a pretty nice lookin 89 chevy 2wd truck, went for 15K (remember CDN dollars here) where the thing was worth probibly 5K in reality. Guess who bought it? Some 16 year old kid with rich parents looking to please the little bastard. LOL I don't mean to be so hateful to these lucky kids, but when I'm driving what I paid for, hard earned and true, and some 16 year old pulls up to me in a 2005 avalanche that his parents just bought him, starting to cut down my ride, I get a little annoyed. These kids will never learn the meaning of work.

Anyways, back on topic, If you set a price "you" think it's worth, someone will eventually buy it. They are called suckers. One is born every minute.
