Default Intake question

I talked to the guys at http://www.hpresearch.net/ and they said i could send them my intake and they would port it for 150 but there is a race ported intake there for 150. Will that one work with stock carb, all I have is in my sig. I think it would be better to just buy that one and have the stock one just in case, right????

Default Intake question

Based on my V-8 drag motors, what manifold porting can do is fool the motor into thinking you have a bigger carb. When it is ported it increases the plenum area(merged area of the manifold) and it basically holds a larger air fuel mixture. It will have a larger air fuel charge there ready to do it's thing the next intake valve opening. The one thing that will happen with this porting on a stock motor is move the power up in the rpm band. How much it affects these motors I could not tell you. I am sure someone has spent some dyno time or seat time with just a ported intake and could enlighten us some more.......What kind of mods do you have already?
