Default +2+4 Axle

I know this is going to soud stupid to most people but that doesn't matter... I know when it comes to A-arms, +2+1 means 2 inches wider, and an inch forward. But when it comes to axles, say a +2+4, what do the numbers mean? The only thing my friends and I can come up with may be that it's adjustable between +2 or +4. Because as far as I know, you can't move an axle forward with the axle itself, thats all in the carrier..... Enlighten me

You are correct. They come with spacers and depending on where you put the spacers will determine the width.

+2" is 2" wider
+4" is 4" wider
and +2+4 is both you adjust them by shifting spacers on a splined axel or pins on a pin drive axel

perfect, thats what we had figured, but i don't agree with the way they named it. plain and simply a +2+4 axle too closely relates to +2+2 a-arms. shoulda been something like +2 to +4 axle or something similar. Or I could just shup up and live with it...
