That would result in shorter gearing, meaning faster accelleration, but loss of top end. You may find that you're shifting through the gears too fast. With a 15 tooth and 22" rears, you almost achieve the same ratio as stock. Just a bit shorter.

Ya im running 15t with 22" now. I was wanting to try 14t I heard that the 14 is hard on the chain, is that true?

That I don't know. I'm gonna shove a 14 tooth on with 20" tires when I get the quad back together. Just for shlts and giggles see what happens.

I ran the 14/ 22 combo for dirt drags and it helped alot. I trail road w/ it for a bit to it wasnt to bad. went through the gears quicker lost a little on top. but it was snappier. I recomend trying it. NOTE the engine mount bolt right behind the sprocket should be turned around the chain will rub on it.

Sam, nice one on the bolt pointer, that would save a lot of time and some headaches. hats off on that one.

I ran a 14T for two years with 20" tires. No problems with anything - very short gears - first was pretty much a non-gear. But that was the perfect combination where I was racing. I now am 15/40 with 20" 8 paddle extremes - its better for cruising and still has plenty of low end.

I used to run 15/42 but after the rear one wore out, I decided it would be cheaper to get a 14 and put the 40 back on the rear.

No problems with it either.

Well, I put the 14t on and I did not have to turn the bolt around the nut end was on the other side the bolt head end is near the sprockit maybe from factory they switch around. So the chain did not rub. I think Im going to like it sence I ride in tight woods. Thanks for yall's responce...
