5 Lbs bottle is about as big as you can go within reason. I have been running about a 30 shot to it for quite some time now. Two of my freinds have 450's one a yfz and the other a R. I like to let them start about 50 to 60 feet ahead, I leave when they do and pass them by 4th gear with a total length of about 4 quads or so. I can beat them on the motor though so it is hard to say. When I was giving it about a 15 shot I was beating them pretty bad also. I am going to be putting n20 on the yfz pretty soon. Cant wait to send the crank through the case...lol

my buddy has the ron wood 505 setup on his yfz, it makes good power, but he said there were a few ds's at fsw that were flying by him on the hill.
but if you had the right rider (say 70-100lb) likes sparks kids it would be an awesome contender.

shmee,

Did you download the brochure or get it in the mail?

I couldn't find a HP rating on the rotax site. The $5,100 and $7,300 was in your face, but I couldn't find any dyno charts. I'm guessing the 66hp is their full race yfz kit for $7,300 kit + labor.

I would think $5,000-$7,500 into my DS motor would make my bike fairly fast. Anybody want to venture a guess on how many DS ponies you can buy for $7,300 assuming you turn your own wrenches??

Funny that you say that!!!! I have lost 20lbs in the last couple months getting ready for race season. Hope to be down another 15 by april (hope)

1. We've all had the discussion that no two dynos are alike, thus making any numbers without proper comparisons just short of useless. If I tune my dyno right I could make a Yugo show 200 HP!

2. I think it is pretty well agreed that the YFZ is a much more 'factory tuned' engine, meaning it is already built up an extent from the factory. On an engine which is already built, it is more difficult to extract horsepower as all of the easy tricks have been done. Making a de-tuned engine power up by installing the right hardware is much easier since you are thus replacing the parts that make it 'de-tuned.'

3. How much does Mr. HP get for his 800 kit? I bet I could get a long ways towards one with $7300! ...And that isn't including hidden costs! Or how about a 730 kit, plus a Turbo? That would be some speed.

4. That being said, I'm not buying any of the above - I need reliability more than I need drag racing speed.

I had talked to a guy who drags his dyno around to all of the big tt events, at that time this highest hp he had seen out of one of thepro's bikes was in the low 50s. Adding another 15hp on top of wha the pro's are making?????Smells funny to me.
