Plowing snow with a Traxter XT?
#1
Once I sell my Honda Fourtrax 300, I'll be able to buy my XT. The Honda was a great machine, but there is a point where it just not powerful and heavy enough to plow any more than a few inches of heavy/wet snow. I'm guessing that a chained up Traxter will do much better... :-)
My question is, is there anyone out there that regularly uses theirs for plowing snow? If so, what size plow do you have and do you use the winch to raise and lower the plow?
My only other 'possible' worry is that, from what I've read about it's shifting, it might be a pain to be frequently shifting from forward to reverse...
Thanks in advance.

I have no experience working in snow, do have lot of experience in mud/wet clay, and find the following,
1, Shifting F-R-F-R etc, this shifting feature works great and you know where you are at all times. (nicer than the Honda push button and foot shift to low idea)always found that awkward on my 450ES, traded it for the Traxter and got lucky, I can't think of using anyother ATV for the work I do. Have tried the Grizzly = Wimpy, 450ES and 400 Honda Foreman = too little power and too light, Polaris Sportsman = not a worker more like the Grizzly but needs lots of U-Joints etc.
2, Use the AG tires and will use them year round for what ever is needed, can not find any tires that come close, (gotta be why the farmers use em on their tractors)
3, As for the snow plow, I would buy the 60 inch model, from the way it handles the slick clay/mud, Id bet it can handle the snow plow nicely.
Hope this gives you some ideas from my experience.
Good luck

do you know that the winch will work to lift the plow. I saw a few XT's that had the hand lift i think because the winch it so low that it would pull it in and not up but i guess that you could use a pully to the bumper or some thing. what do you people know about it?
