there is one on ebay and i am curious if it will fit and will the shock fit? or do i need to get it revalved? thanks fellas

 

You are going to need new shock, lower shock bushings, lower shock bolt, brake caliper mount, brake line, & shorten the chain. I did the reverse of what you want to do. I went from 04 to 03. I didn't like the shorter swingarm because the front end wants to come up way to easy.

Hmmm I wonder what a new shock goes for. I'm looking for an 05 swingarm as well.

 

I'm told you also need to put the old model swingarm pivots in the new model swingarm, to use the new model swingarm with an old model swingarm pivot bolt.

JMAC, why a new shock? I figured the old shock would at least need revalved due to the -1", but did you run into problems with the physical dimensions or something?

 

The lower shock mount is apx 1/4 inch narrower. I just machined down my shock bushings

 

I heard the valving is different along with the spring. The older style have 2 springs and the newer style have only one. I'm not sure how hard it would be to figure out the valving and spring rate.

 

I was going to list my shocks on ebay but if any of my fellow forum guys need them I will give you guys first dibs. I have 2 front and 1 rear off my 04 Baja(alum newer style swingarm). I never rode on them and they are brand new. I can't use them anymore since I converted back to 00-03 style. Make me an offer.
