Possible ? You bet !! Many people do or have done. I used to but I get better power with it in the airbox and the intake tube installed. You can get K&N filters for on the carb or in the airbox, your choice. Nothing special to do Just call and order what ya want. Ron Woods, HPResearch, Rocky Mountain ATV, ETC....

One thing I might add is that there is a 'vaccume' tube that is on the left side of the carb that runs to the side of the intake tube BEFORE the carb. This is needed for the carb to function properly so if you remove the intake tube youll have to plug up that line or ????? This will change jetting. I would be curious to know what other people have done ??

Also If you ride in the muddy and wet areas , this setup may not be for you.

Good luck

The filter is actually a snowmobile filter I think. Ron Wood, On Dunes and The Bom should all have them. Get an outerware for it too.

As for the direct mount vs. intake tube. . . I finally have some dyno runs at 4000' elevation prooving my experience. . . the direct mount adds HP! For ME, I still believe the direct mount is the better way to go.

DuneMe , your running the stocker right ? What did you do with the clear tube on the left side of the carb that went back to the intake snorkel tube ??

i have a little airfilter on the clear tube. looks like a mini k&N. I think i bought it at pepboys or the local cycle shop. the other little black tubes coming off each side just go between the gas tank and cover. i run a uni airfilter with outterwear. crank case hose also has the same type filter on it as the clear onebetween the bottom of engine and plastic plate on bottom of the frame.
