Big End Rod Bearing
#1
I can not believe the kind of luck i am having lately.
Got to Dumont Friday afternoon / evening. Took the DS for a few runs on the flat to seat the rings and what not. All was going well..so i decided to head back to camp and do a few more on the throttle off the throttle runs on the way back. Pull into camp and just as I made the turn around my truck the motor felt like it tightened up (sorta the same feeling as a loss of power) but slowing the quad much quicker. Then it died. Tried to crank it over it. It sounded just like it does when the battery is low. Only I knew better.....
Pulled the plug, tried again with the same result. Extreemly disapointed I packed up staurday morning and headed home. Tore it apart....AGAIN and found that the rod would not turn on the crank. WTF...is it possible for the crank lobes to close up aginst the rod? or would it be more likely that the rob bearings are seized. I can smak the rod with a rubber mallet and get it to turn a little at a time and it doesn't feel like any grinding or anything is happening.
Can I have this crank rebuilt with new rod bearing and whatever? Or should i replace it all? And if so who do would you recomend I send it to for the rebuild?

I did have an oil flow issue before this last build. My oil pumps were shot. In fact the sump area that the outer rotor of the oil pump sets in on one of the pumps was really scratched up as well as the outer rotor. So i got a set of 2000 center cases with new oil pumps off ebay. Looked everything over and everything seemed fine. Put it all back together and now my new problem.
With this last build my oil pressure is 80lbs cold @ idle and 60lbs @ idle with the water temp fluxuating between 180 and 195. Those are my fan on / off temps.
When i tore it apart there was absolutley no shavings of any kind in the oil or on the magnut.

Sorry to hear this kinda stuff happening to you Larry. The preacher will probably fix it dirt cheap, I can PM you his #. But he MIGHT recomend the Pami oil upgrade for the bottom end. Let me know what I can do to help ya.
