Default master link technique

I cant seem to get mine tight enough to slide the clip on.Any ideas

Try clamping it together with vise grips.

the one I have is the small press in this link. the fourth pic down. on the right. $24.90 got it at the local yamy shop for $19.99 allthough a complete kit would be nice to have.

Default master link technique

Get a 10 MM nut and place it between the pins on your master link clamp it down with a pair of vice grips let it sit for a few minutes and the clip will slide on very easy.

Mini Chain Breaker & Mini Chain Press Tool.
The 08-0001 is for 420 to 630 chain. It will push the link pin completely through the link. The handle folds away for easy storage and the replaceable pin (08-0002) is heat treated for strength and wear resistance.
08-0001: $27.10 for the set from Motion Pro.

I have used a small C-Clamp for years, works as well as many other ideas I have seen. Best tool I ever found in a parking lot...
