Do I need a ring compressor?

Default Do I need ring compressor?

I am installing a new je 11.2:1 piston tonight and was just curious if I could use my fingers like on two strokes or if I had to buy a ring comporessor to get the jugg on? thanks again fellas

I did'nt use one. I just slid the piston up threw the bottom of the cylinder, my cylinder looked slightly tapered on the bottom, worked great for me.

A greased hose clamp will work in a pinch if you don't have strong fingers. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

ok finally got it on what i ended up using was the end of a six inch plastic ruler for the top two rings and then i put a wire zip tie around the oil rings it worked really good but i got paranoid that the oil rings might have gotten twisted so i pulled it back apart and put it back together again, those new rings are alot tighter than the old ones were but then again the old ones were worn out, thanks for all your help fallas

wonderful thanks oldmanracing, mine has the D at the bottom of the slide on the inside, where is watertown and is there any good riding there?

No trails in Watertown, between Madison and Milwaukee, but it is less than 2 hours to either Darlington(Cheese Trail) or to Black River Falls. Both trails have close to 100 miles. We have a trailer up by Wisconsin Rapids and belong to an association that has a 21 mile trail and there are several miles of atv routes(old logging roads). isnt there a motocross track on 94 on the right past the rest area as you are heading towards milwaukee? i used to pass it all the time when i was driving truck over the road, maybe you can ride your atv there too?
