Motorhome or Toy hauler?

Budman, what kind of mileage do you get with the v10? Loaded and unloaded? This was the direction we were looking at going, nowadays mileage changes everything. What kind of money are you paying for insurance on the class c? I'm at around 240 a year for my current trailer, 26'. Also, has anybody got a toy hauler that can fit a Jeep? How about anybody with a custom carhauler with live in quarters in the front? Thanks Jed

Insurance is $456 a year. That might be low compared to other companies, but we have everything with one company. Mileage is between 7 and 8mpg. It really doesn't make a diff if we're towing or not, unless we get into some big hills then it might go down a little. That v-10 has been great. It's strange with the mpg, it doesn't matter if you are easy or not. Actually I'm not that easy. I like to get where I'm going, maybe that's why I can't get over 8 mpg. The only problem is when we go up to Williams,AZ, it does struggle on the steep grades. A friend of mine put the Banks kit on it and it made a huge differance in power. Just another project down the road. Hope that helps. Oh, it's a class A, not C. Lots of sq. ft. in front.

That does help, 8 mpg, heck thats all I get out of my truck pulling. Class A hmm, how long? Think them are out of my reach. And for insurance, that isnt bad, another 20 quid a month for a class A, I'm down with that, thanks again, Jed

Ha.. Ha.. Don't know about the rest of you other guys with motor homes, but we bring our Jeep, quads and trailer so we can park the motor home and take the quads into the most inaccessible places with the Wrangler. As far as speed of getting there, LOL a motor home will easily cruise at 70 with all the toys.

It's 35' X 8 1/2 wide with a slideout. It has a 4:56 rear end. It's funny watching cars trying to play catchup from a stoplight. There's goes my mpg again. You can save a bundle on a used motorhome. If you can, go for the slideout. It makes a nice big room on the inside.

70 MPH, I wish. Mine is a 1984, so it's geared to go 55 easily. I get up around 65 or 70 and I can watch the gas gauge plummet. I will say this, it's got a 454 in it and compared the Class C 30 foot (mine is 34 feet) one I test drove, it has the same amount of power pulling with the trailer. Now anyone got one that will smoke the tires?

I had a bounder before this one and it had a 454 gas hog, pulling the wells cargo24' it would get about 5 miles to a gallon and the big trucks would give me hail!!!! But I bought it for 30k put 20,000 miles on it in 2 years and sold it for 30k. Not bad for 2 years of fun!

I wish I had the huevos to see if it would smoke the tires. I know I could set the whole family back in the queen bed from a stoplight. The Good Sam club is going to cancel me if they read this.

My truck (newer cummins) get 17mpg when operating in dodge or ram mode. 20mpg when driving more sane. Towing 12,000lbs, it drops to 10mpg. Lower on the big hills. The range/mileage/power of a pusher is excellant. Plus they sport 100+ gallon tanks.
So if you're only cooling with the front air, does it get hot when cutting across the desert during the day. Is it ok to run the generator when driving?
SB, diesel furnace & water heater. You pulling our leg?? I dig the thought, but just didn't know it was an option.
