If anyone knows of BMW F650 performance mods for racing, such as Exhaust,
Carburetion, etc, please post the web links and info here. 4-Wheel ATV
Action says Ron Wood Racing has mods that boost HP by 16. They also say
that Euro mods are available that boost HP by 36...supposedly they will
show a tricked out DS650 in an upcoming issue. I've heard of Staintune
exhausts also Carburetion from www.rotax.com.

do you actually need mods for this sweet machine? It is the fastest and has the most travel, if the engineers have perfected it I wouldnt think you would need to many mods. But on the other hand, maybe you want it to sound cooler? well i wonder how much more top end you would get if you upped the front sprocket 1 tooth? bye

Ranger,
Ill tell you why we would be interested in performance hop-ups for the "new" DS_650. Because they are there ( on the motorcycle motor it has dual carbs and a 5 valve head, thats trick!!) This motor is a world class power plant with PROVEN hop-up potential. Yes, it appears a stock DS-650 can already beat a stock banshee, but remember, there are plenty of modified Banshees around! remember this is the same motor that won the Paris to Dakar Rally.
OH yes, its gonna be a fun summer.

Do you guys plan to do any Sand Dune racing with these machines in Southern California (READ: GLAMIS!?) If so, you gotta let me know when so I can come down to check that out. From all indications, someone might call a couple of you 'serious' about owning a FAST DS650. Just imagine if they had an EFI model next year, that'ed be trick, no more need to re-jet! Maybe one of you guys should start a spot on the web dedicated to this new model? Pics/tips/links/etc of yours and other's machines? Sure, you don't have a DS650 yet, but I don't see that as any reason not to get the foundation laid for it. I mean heck, if you put that on the web right now, (Including pics from all previous articles, scans etc..) you'ed have more info on the web about the DS650 than Bombardier does! Oh, wait, ATVing.com already has Bombardier beat on that one. hahaha as long as they make the quad I'll be happy, oh and make it well too. I wonder if ATVing.com would be interested in having a spot on the website with kinda like a 'DS650/TRX250R/Banshee/LT250R/Blaster/etc corner' where a person who wants to see cool tips, tricks, pics, and tons of info on the various models could head straight to. Oh, and we would definatly need the same kinda thing for the UTE models, those guys have 4-wheels and an engine too! Just a thought.

I have located the email address of one Ron Woods, the recognized expert on the Rotax 650. His email is
rotax@mindspring.com
I am told he is not cheap, but he does have proven results..

Don't get me wrong, the DS650 is an awesome machine. However I don't think with the limited number of units being made that we will see ATV aftermarket companies flooding the market with parts like they did with the 400EX. The bottom line is aftermarket companies are looking at numbers.

Bigdog,

You are probably correct as far as accessories go, but the motor and tranny are also used in the BMW F650. This motor has many years of development onto it, so hop ups are already in place. 5 valve head, stroker kit (700cc) EFI. Pretty trick stuff really.

BMW F650 PERFORMANCE EQUIPMENT

Ron Wood (obviously not the guitar playing Ron Wood - unless I missed
something) Enterprises have introduced a complete line of performance parts
for the BMW F650 Funduro. It includes a high compression piston, supersports
cams, dual valve springs with titanium retainers, prejetted 39mm flatside
carburetors, throttle cable, K&N air filter, ignition advance key, complete
exhaust system and installation and modification instructions. When the
full kit is installed dyno test readings show a horsepower increase of 47%
to 60hp and torque increased to 44lbs/ft. The components of the kit can
be bought separately and pricing is dependent on what, or how much of the
kit is purchased. If you are interested call Ron Wood Enterprises at (949)
645-0393, or write to 755 West 17th Street, Unit D, Costa Mesa CA 92627</BODY></HTML>
