went to take a ride today, started out just fine but went to shift to 2nd and the shifter was hard as a rock, i noticed puttin it in 1st w/ the clutch still in it wound a lil, so i tightened up my clutch and fixed the prob, it wasnt engaging 100%, so is there anywhere/one that has an aftermarket clutch cable for the DS or is there just replacing it wit a new oem?

I replaced it alright but I replaced it with hydraulic.... no more cable!!!!! Seriously though, I never had the problems that you speek of with the DS cable but I have with other bikes and quads. Is the clutch extremely hard to pull? does it feel gritty and /or pop when you pull the lever? Does it feel like its not returning all the way when you release it??? A "Yes" to any of these questions indicates a worn cable. to be sure, try disconnecting it from both ends and slide the cable in and out of the casing. It should slide very easy. if you can't slide it fully using just your thunb and finger tip, replace it.

A worn or broken clutch actuator can also give the same synptoms described. I ended up having to replace mine recently after breaking a tooth on the actuator.

Mine was tight too..especially after I put in the 60% stiffer springs...I lubed it, and man...what a difference. I lube it, and my throttle cable on a regular basis now.

yes there is a cable off a Honda that works fine. It is a couple of inches longer and adjust in the middle of the cable but it works and is only 25 bucks. I will get the part number tomorrow and post.
