Clutch
#11
I too suffer from a harder to shift shifter. It doesn't like to go into neutral even close to as easy as before I had changed the clutch out. Before, I had no slack in my cable. When I redid my clutch I put slack in the cable like most bikes require so you don't prematurely wear the clutch out.... do I have too much slack? Should there even be any slack on the DS?

Well thanx to Squacher for the honda cable info. I just got word from Motion Pro about a clutch cable for the DS650 - we "have the Terminator clutch cable for the 00-04 DS650 Bombardier available. The cost is $51.90" Now thats better than the Bomb stock clutch cable at $80 which is BS since i called the dealership one day and it was $45 and then the next day i call to order it changes to $80, BS man BS!

yea DuneMe thats where mine broke also. The Honda Motion Pro part # like Squatcher said is 02-0164, but talking to the Motion Pro guy i dont think i want to go that way, he said somethin about having to make it fit lol and i'll steer clear of rigging up an important cable

the word from Motion Pro on the subjet...
"02-0164 fits Honda XR200/250R 1984-1985, XL250R 1984-1987. The difference between the two is the bottom fitting. If you use the cable above you would be missing a key component-the lower barrel. The 02-0164 uses a pear fitting where the 01-1021 uses a barrel, so you'd have no way to connect it unless the cable was rigged in an unsafe fashion. I cannot recommend the use of the 02-0164 cable for the DS650 based on the information I have here. If you wanted to purchase it you would be doing so at your own risk... "
