Default Outlander brake light

The brake light on my 04 outlander stays on and machine will not start in gear when the brake is depressed. I called the dealer and they said it was a bad tail light switch. As they seemed to know what the problem was right a way has anyone else had the same problem? Also dose anyone know if there are any recalls on this machine? The manual says to have the valves adjusted at 100 miles but the dealer said they have never adjusted the valves and not to have it done. My son has a 600 Griz and had the valves adjusted and it made the machine a lot faster, much faster then when he first bought it. My outlander goes about 51 or 2 miles pr hour on the level is this abought right? Thanks
