"Probably buy a brand new motor for $100."
No way, it's time for a motor swap

I need to find out the moped laws around me. If I can ride it on the road, I may put a different motor in it. I know mopeds are not supposed to bee more than 50cc, but who would know. There is not much room to work space wise.

I know out here mopeds can only be ridden on private property unless they are street legal, but that thing is just about there... go for it!

Most of the mini Taiwan type atv motors are derived from scooters. Nobody would be able to tell the difference between a 50cc and a 90cc. That being said nobody would be able to tell it was a 90cc with a 110cc kit installed. A piped and ported BigBore 90cc would flat out fly in that thing. You'd have folks trying to steal it next. lol-sorry couldn't resist.

I think I will go to my local lawnmower dealer and see if I can get some ideas as far as chain saw motors. fishslab, even though it is not worth much as it is, I am still worried about someone stealing it.

I'm with fish. A good tawianese bike motor would do well. I know of a small atv that my friend has for his daughter that is only 50cc based off the exact design of the old honda's. Same motor actually, and it moves pretty decently.... they manufacture it in the 90 and 110 from the factory.

I've seen quite a few of these before. Quite frankly they are about the cheapest made things ever, but hey, the kids love em.
