Default valve shim question!! (hp)

I really should invest in two torque wrenches (are they really 70+ a piece?) Surely a cheaper brand sells them for closer to 40 or so. I still dont know if I personally want to mess with it... the part I am mostly worried about is having it all go back together properly (that or me not having it setup correctly to take the measurements and then change the shims)

also.... are the cams right there (can you pull them out from the top, or does the whole head have to be taken off?) I was pretty sure you had to take the head off, but if not I could see this as being a good reason to get new cams

Torque wrenches are easily found on e-bay for much less.

Is this really required for valve clearance check? I don't see how it affects the clearance in any way. I didn't see any mention of it on Eaglecollector's site either.

by disks you mean shims? My understanding thus far, is if you check and it does need to be adjusted, you just find what size you need, and then purchase that size(s) I dont think you need new buckets/tappets, unless you mangle them trying to get the shim off or somthing lol.

wait... do you have to buy a TDC locking bolt? I was under the impression you just use the bolt that you pull out (but after thinking about it, that wouldnt make any sense)

so in order to check clearance you need to buy a TDC locking bolt?

my mech and i were looking at the DS650 hardcore manual and it shows dics and bucket that u buy, i think u buy a bunch and see what size u need and take the rest back, to adjust ur valves, was i looking at the book wrong?
