Default EGT Probe placement?

I am putting my stock pipe back on because my graydon is a rust bucket, and I was wondering how far from the head should I drill for the egt probe. Someone said it was to close last time, look at my pics. Just wondering where you get the most accurate readings.

Default EGT Probe placement?

I thought a general rule of thumb was about 6 inches away from the head

Thanks, I heard about 6in from piston, which would be about 4in from head. Anyone have another idea, or is this good.
