Good luck man you are going to here everything from ride it like you stole it to, idle through the first tank. Best thing to do is consult your owners manual/call dealer and ask them.

i broke mine in riding it like i planned on riding it but being careful not to hold the throttle in one place too long or wide open too long, I just keep verying the throttle position for the first 15 minutes after that i rode the b**ch like I stole it, but I did have the fast break in ring package from mr hp and changed my oil at 10 hrs and will again at 20 hrs then switch to amsoil, i was told that 80% of ring breakin accurs in the first 15 minutes and the other 20% takes several hours just my .02 cents, your gonna hear a lot on this one muddy mess, but listen to the big guys on hear like majorecho, hightower, eaglecollector, duneme, and others i cant remember now they will never give you bad advise

I have broke in many new motors in my 30 years of riding and i always run the motor as hard as i would if it were not new and it has always worked for me.If you baby your new motor on break in you will not get the level of performance that you would if you break it in hard. The first hour or so with a new motor is critical so since you are asking for opinions i say run it hard from the beginning but do let it cool down a few times during that first hour.

after reading that article on hard break ins (been a long time since I read it, dont remembe where it is at on the net) all of my buddies and I but one broke our quads in hard. Two brothers have yfz's, the red one was broken in easy, and the blue one hard. The blue one always beats the red one in drags when they were both bone stock.
