Default Electrical output for new lighting

I was thinking about purchasing some additional lighting for my DS. I was looking at the Lazer Star billet lights, say 50w each. Do I need to do anything to increase the electrical output of the existing capacity?

The stock DS stator is around ~290W I believe. You should be fine adding a couple of 50W lights.

Take a look at Trail Tech as well. They make some nice HID setups that do not draw a lot of current and put out a ton of light.

I have a pair of 50 watt laser stars just as you are planning to install. I wired them so that they come on with the high beams. When all lights are on there is a total of 138 watts of lighting draw (50 + 50 + 35 (headlight) +3 (tail light)) Add that to the nominal draw needed to charge the battery, run the engine etc, you add another ~20 watts = 158 watts. I'm not sure what the fan draws but I'll throw out a treoretical 40 watts for it which brings us to a rounded off total of 200 watts, +or- 15 watts.
So you have roughly 75 watts left over for your favorite accessories like a heated seat, powered ice chest, helmet spot light, cell phone charger......... Try that with a raptor.
