Default shim question?

im putting my motor back together today after installing the cometic gasket and after i got the cams back in and went to turn the motor over by hand it is binding up..i changed the cam placement about ten times, but i know they lighned up right...i cant figure out why my motor is binding up...the only thing i can think of is two of my buckets came off when i was cleaning it and maybe i put them in backwards( ones exaust ,ones intake) if i did accidently swap an intake shim for an exaust would that make enough difference to bind the motor up when rolling it over by hand?.....thanks in advance on ANY of your thoughts or opinions.

Only if the shims were drastically different in sizes. Can you rotate it around the other direction to about the same spot? If so it sounds like a valve is hitting.

If the piston is not close to tdc, then its not valves. Did you put in the tdc key and not get it in all the way and forget to take it out? I'm just throwing out guesses here, not trying to offend ya.

lol...no offence..i just went back out side to double check that before u posted...i was thinking maybe it was because of the different style gasket threw my timing off or maybe there wasnt enough clearence and i was hitting the piston with a valve, but im not getting enough turn out of her to bring the valves open all the way...its about to drive me nuts...lol...
