Yea it looks alright...i think the older model rappys look better, the back fenders on the new 1 look screwy, like they go to far back. Ide rather buy an older raptor and spend the extra money on some suspension upgrades, pipe, and intake mods. EFI would be nice though if it dont screw up like it did on the cannondales.

I have to admit, it looks BAD A$$. So where's Bomb's 450? Oh, The Phantom had big things to write were on the way. Anyone can be Nostradamus. I perdict in 2007 (yadda...yadda...yadda...). The 800 is cool, but the sport guys want a new toy too. In my crystal ball, Yamaha has a 683cc with EFI. Don't get me wrong, I love my DS and plan to keep her for three or four more years. Come on Bomb, live up to the "Follow No One" claim.

I think Yamaha went in the right direction with the raptor. Slight increase in engine size and EFI are obvious +, so is the wider stance with a lower seat height. And you can't leave out the aluminum frame parts.

On paper its starting to sound more and more like a lightweight DS Of course the motor and chassis will never be as stout as the DS is.

Bomb is definitely past due on some major improvements. In the last 6 years, I would consider the upgrades to be minor, such as the shorter/lighter swing arm, new head light, etc...

the efi already existed for the ratpor motor, it was a no brainer to bolt it on, very good move.

Same thing is true for the DS motor, efi has been out there for a while in the F650's. they should just do it already.

but it is still awefuly early in the year, so lets give them a break and assume they are taking there time with it so it comes right the first time with no issues, like the afore mentioned C-Dale, or the 1st year raptor tranny. summer aint over yet.

Im not too sure about the "NEW" Raptor...but I do like the idea of Yamaha stepping up to the plate with the improvements on both the YFZ and the Raptor....that is more than I can say for some. But, I agree with you Hightower...lets give BRP a little time...and see what happens. You never know..it might be worth waiting for.

Mongo:

All Faith and no info. However, BRP's track record over the past two six years is that something new happens each even numbered year. For 2006 the DS650 didn't change at all, not even colors etc. I think this really means something new is about to spring forth.
