just got a 00 ds650 looking for some help

hey just got a 2000 ds 650, i've owned an 04 love em, however i got this one for a steel but it has a few small problems, looking for some help. it has a factory rotax pipe and in first gear if you romp the trottle (twist) it bogs and sometimes shoots a flame out the pipe, so i'm assuming its jetting and its the pilot. i changed the spark plug and the wire is good, can anyone help me here? also i'm looking to get rid of the pipe and pick up a stock slip on and it has a twist trottle, not a fan, seeing if anyone has a thumb trottle assembly for sale, and last are the foot pegs and plastics i'm looking for black rear and new yellow fronts with the black gas tank cover, if anyone can help me out with any of this it would be great, thanx

Be patient. Hightower is the best and most likely come to your aid. Sounds like alot of unburned gas in your pipe. Maybe an exhaust valve not closing. My 2000 isn't stock so I can't help you with the jetting. Do a search here and there is tons of info on carbs, jets, etc. Good luck.

Kenye! Budman is correct. Do a search in the issue of jetting and you will find volumes of information. However be patient, the guys in the know will come to your aid. It's just with such good weather they're probably out riding.. instead of spending time on the board.

Good morning, Don.
Kenye will see that there are alot of good people here and he came to the right place for answers.
Holiday weekend coming up here, maybe I should take a drive to Corona.

Sounds like your new DS has a Ron Woods Stage 1 kit on it( thats a good thing). Sounds like the TM45 carb needs to be tuned. Are you familiar with this carb? if so give us your settings. 1) jet sizes 2) needle clip position 3) is the accelerator pump activated?
First things first, when you change your OIL DONT FORGET to take out the OIL screen in your oil tank and clean it. it is part of the OIl fitting that the large Black hose it attached to. Just unsrew that fitting and pull it out. VERY IMPORTANT!

hey guys thanx for replying sorry about being anxious just got the quad home and wanted it to run right ya know, there is deff. gas sitting in the pipe so first tomorrow i'm going to pull the carb and see what jets i have and where the clip is, however i'm not familar with the dscarbs, whats that accelerator pump that people are talking about? the guy i got it off is also running a k and n filter and i'm changing that to a foam tomorrow. just a question do you think it would help if i went down in the main jet, i thought it was the pilot but i was told the pilot just controls the idle, however if it was the main jet i would of thought it would cut out 3/4-full but it doesn't, just when you whomp it, it seems like its loading up with to much gas. chiknhawk let me know what you want for your stock slip on, i just think the ron woods pipe is to loud for the riding this thing is going to be doing, and guys i'm also looking for some 20 inch rears mounted and front 21 mounted and will be getting rid of my 22" hole shot rears and 23"hole shot fronts, also loooking for plastics, open to newer model colors, red, black, if they will fit. i'll have to search to see what year plastics fit what year bikes, lastly i'm still looking for a thumb throttle.
thanx guys for the help
