Need advise on 650X
#1
My family and I have been out of ATVs for about 10 years now, and are a little behind on what is best out there. We used to run the Banshee's and know that those are very good bikes, however we have come across these 650x's and think we would prefer these. Any and all opinions would be greatly appriciated. We are just afraid that we may buy 3 of them, get to the dunes in Coos Bay Oregon and not have the machine we thought we would. Please let me know what you think, thanks.

First of all any of the ds650 series is gonna give you the what we call cadilac ride. Its big and comfortable. Choosing the baja x you are getting plenty of power. They say the motor and everything is the same from year to year but that x realy is impressive with its power. I myself dont think you could not go wrong purchasing it.

I've had my DS650X for almost a year, they are bullet proof.
Twice my DS has been flipped over, other then a slight bent steering rod, nothing was damaged.
Power? Last time I tried to race it I nearly had to climb on the handlebars to keep the front end down and I go about 215 lbs.
Suspension? I'm not sure anything else is better??
Drawbacks? For my preference its a little on the bulky side and a little heavy but once you get used to riding it you don't really pay attention.
What to look for? Get your oil sensor sealed, if it gets wet it may fail and cause a false oil pressure light. Keep the battery fully charged. Keep the radiator fins clean, may cause you to run hot.
Changing the oil is a messy job, here are a few hints. First, there is a reserve tank up front, make sure you drain that when changing the oil. I changed mine twice the first few rides and still found metal shavings on the drain plug.
My dealer installed a secondary fuel filter on my first service.

If you buy the ds, you will like the milage compared to banshee. 1 tank of gas lasts me most of the day on ds, while going through 2 or more tanks on banshee in the same ride time is common. Banshee is alittle quicker, ds is alittle faster. Ds is more comfortable to sit on. Banshee handles a little better {more nimble}. Ds suspension is alot better than banshee's. Both are quite stable in the air. Carb matinence is a dream on ds. You can change main jets, or adjust the needle while it's on the bike, takes 5 mins. Carb matinence on banshee is a nightmere. OK, here is the simple discription of both machines Banshee=69 camaro, ds= 05 cadillac .I like both bikes, but if I could only keep one it would be ds.
