Which to buy, Regular 800 XT or 800 MAX XT
#1
Hi guy, I already bought and am waiting on my order for an Outlander 800 MAX XT because I think it was just as manuveurable on the trais as the regular 800. Howver, I would like to hear from you guys on the forum about which one you would buy, the regular 800 XT or the 800 MAX XT and the reasons for your choice. I think this woulds be an interesting topic for the group. Best regards, William2000

there really is no room for discussion, either ur having a passenger or not. truthfully if ur gonna by a two seater just get the 400. who needs to be flying around on that two seated 800cc boat?

If you hunt then the extended rack space on the Max is helpful during the season and like mentioned before in a lot of states if you do not have a quad equipped for two it is illegal for you to double up under consumer protection guidelines

Excellent points. I heard that only Iowa was the last holdout for 2 up. If this is true then Bomb is doing good homework. The outlanders are are according to Bomb the next level in recreation utility. I am not a hunter and probably the dicontinued traxter line is better suited for hunting Also, I live in Canada and we do not have a limit on passengers, lets hope this doesn't change. Good hunting to you.

I am about to buy the 800 and was wondering if the max is what I need. It would be nice to have my wife along (sometimes) and if it has downfalls like high centering, cornering, or not as fun to ride. I would like the extra space as long as it doesn't hamper it much....give me your thoughts and experiences.

I'm pasting this from badass86coupe thread, his question is a little different, need to read it, but the main points apply to both. The max is 8" longer, so I guess it would get hung on one out of ten that a standard would not get hung on. Don't worry about that, it's fun to ride 1 up too.
"No, not worth it! The finish is painted on. Was talking to a guy who took a second job for a year to pay cash for the limited, first time he washed it the paint started flaking off! Now it's black and gray spotted. Work a year for something, comes the big day, first washup, which he was very careful to stand back with the pressure wand, heartbreaker for him.
Outy camo will split in cold weather, for example the fender will split overnight from the rotax engine clear to front. Warranty covers it, seems to change some propertys in the application process.
The colored Outy plastic is the best I've ever seen, not braggin' or complainin', but I've been in my share of crashes. The Outy plastic will most times just pop right back out, sometime in the night, unless there is a crash fairy I don't know about.
I agree with cluby, sounds like you all would be a perfect fit for a 650 Outy Max XT. Great to ride one up too.
8" longer than the standard, BIG safety feature for your two favorite ladies, plus low c.g., another BIG safety feature, also will do steep or hairy hills better than other quads, another BIG safety feature, best EBS in the business, another BIG safety feature on hills. And the only thing that will outrun it, not by much, is the 800 Outy. Install a Precision Racing Product steering stabilizer on it, and yes it is another BIG safety feature, no upper body beating or bump steer at all. It is so comforting that she will ride faster on rough trails cause it's so smooth. I love mine, everybody that has one feels the same. The viscolok is foolproof, she can ride in 4wd all day if she wants, no problem. Two efi's. The XT has a winch, 26" pretty dang good tires, bumpers, handguards, 70 lbs heavier. When you replace tires, I recommend 26" Terracross R/Ts on 14" ITP type 7's. Very good traction, and yes, another BIG safety feature.
You would have to put skids on any outy, the first day, lower spar beam dents easily. That 'sliding over a log or rocks' in their website video is a total load of BS! Great frame though, will not fail you. Sometimes the front lower springs, shortys, will sag to no space in the coils. Put the rear shortys on the front, will fix it, did for me. Discuss with dealer before
buying it. Upgrade springs/shocks are out now. On about 1 out of 8 Outys, the heat put out by the 800 engine will cause melted plastic, warped cvt cover.
Now just ride both, especially she should, I like the Outys chances. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. 2500 rough miles, no probs, none. I know of guys with 8000 miles, same belt.
Polaris has a very cushy ride. Good for work, sled pulls, plowing. Dangerous going down hills."
